Relive is an app used by more than 11 million people to track and share their outdoor adventures. Everything from epic bike rides in the mountains too long walks in the forest. We think that being outdoors and exploring the world around you is amazing for your mental and physical wellbeing, and we're on a mission to get everyone exploring the outdoors and living a healthy and active life.
We're growing fast (100% YoY for most metrics. This year we'll add more than 1 million new users a month) but we've never paid a dollar to acquire a user. We currently grow 100% organically via viral/word of mouth growth loops - users share an activity from Relive to their social media and that triggers their friends to sign up too. This works because our users love our product and love to share it with their friends and family. We are aiming to have more than 100 million users of Relive within the next 3 years.
We're looking for several associate product managers to join our team. You can think of an associate PM role as the best product management education on the planet (and you get paid to do it). Over the course of 6 to 12 months you'll learn the skills required and have chances to put them into practice while being coached by one of our amazing and experienced PMs.
This role is ideal if you're working in start-ups / scale-ups and are looking to change career - probably as a product designer or analyst. It could also be a great fit if you're currently working as a product owner or only have a few years PM experience but know you've not yet mastered the role (hint - the majority of companies aren't product first and even if your title is PM it's quite likely that you're acting more as a scrum product owner or a project manager).
This is not an internship. You're a full team member from day 1 and if you're motivated then we're committed to helping you become a truly world-class product manager.
1️⃣ Stage 1 - Learn and develop the individual tools to be a great PM
You'll focus on supporting your product lead with specific parts of the role. For example - conducting user interviews, gathering data and forming conclusions from it, analysing the results of A/B tests, formulating ideas into hypothesis, etc. Your mentor is still the overall lead of the product area and will set specific tasks for you to accomplish.
2️⃣ Stage 2 - Combine these tools together and start owning specific opportunities end-to-end
You'll start to own specific initiatives end-to-end. For example - your product lead will suggest a strategic direction based on observations from our users. You would own the full process (with your team) of discovery, proposing solutions, shaping those solutions in testable hypothesis, and closing the loop by learning what worked and what didn’t.
This stage would be working in parallel with your mentor - they will be busy focusing on other strategic areas while you own a specific focus area. Your mentor will give you a specific initiative to focus on (for example - "Reduce the time it takes users to create a Relive account"), the necessary context, and specific success metrics. It will be up to you to find a path to success. Your mentor will be there to guide you, give input, and help you navigate the process.
3️⃣ Stage 3 - Widen your focus, develop a strategy
You'll start to own the process of discovering, defining, and refining the strategy for your focus area. You'll take what you are learning from our users and work to formulate a strategy for the next 3 to 6 months.
In this stage you will be working to define the initiatives that your team should focus on based on the available data. Your mentor will be available to support you and will regularly give you context and guidance, but at this stage they will be play a "trust but verify" role - you will be required to take over ownership of your focus area.
We're looking for associate product managers because we've found there are not enough skilled product managers in the market, so we want to become the best at developing our own.
We need to grow the number of product managers because we plan to grow the number of product teams at Relive. We want to do this so that we can invest in new areas of the product, and increase our focus on existing areas.
You'll join a small team (you + 5) and be given a clear focus area. As outlined above you'll have a product lead as your mentor to guide you through the process to becoming an epic PM.
Each team is highly autonomous. All of our developers are full stack and are empowered to touch any part of our codebase. In practice, this means that no matter what you want to execute as a team there are no "stakeholders" to coordinate with and no dependencies on other teams. Want to add a completely new feature to the product? Your team has the skills needed to add a new database, expose it via an API, consume that API in the app, and present the data in a beautiful UI within the app. And you don't need to waste time in meetings or hoping that a specialist team will implement the thing you need to make progress on your objective.
Right now we're looking for 2 associate PMs who will be coached by Katia. You'll focus on one of these 2 areas with a kick-ass team and with lots of guidance, strategy, and direction from Katia.
We're a remote-first company. That means all our rituals and teams are designed for remote working. You can work in any country in a similar time zone (we're CET) as we've not mastered the art of working across timezones and we don't plan to invest our time in that challenge in the next few years. In practice, that means being located somewhere in Europe.
We have an office in Rotterdam 🇳🇱 where you can work if you prefer a physical space, and we're happy to help you relocate here if you choose.
We expect everyone on the team to get together a few times a year as we still think it's useful to make in-person bonds to strengthen our remote-first culture. That means a few times a year you can expect to travel to Rotterdam to spend time with your team, make connections, and have some fun together.
All of this is dependent on COVID rules of course, so currently our office is fully closed 🙅
